Huang Clarifies Investment
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has directly addressed widespread speculation surrounding a $100 billion investment in OpenAI. He clarified that the initial announcement
in September 2025 never constituted a single, binding commitment from Nvidia. Instead, he explained that OpenAI had extended an invitation for Nvidia to invest up to $100 billion over time, with each funding round to be considered independently. Huang emphasized that Nvidia intends to invest a substantial sum, potentially the largest single investment they have ever made, in OpenAI's upcoming funding rounds, but unequivocally stated it would not be the full $100 billion figure at once. He also dismissed as 'nonsense' any reports suggesting personal dissatisfaction with OpenAI, expressing profound respect for the company's groundbreaking work and acknowledging its status as one of the most significant entities of the current era.
Altman Backs Partnership
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has publicly reaffirmed his company's strong and ongoing partnership with Nvidia, highlighting the exceptional quality of Nvidia's AI chips. In a statement on X, Altman expressed his hope that OpenAI will continue to be a major customer for Nvidia for the foreseeable future. He also commented on the intense speculation surrounding the investment, questioning the origins of such 'insanity.' Altman's remarks follow recent reports suggesting OpenAI's potential dissatisfaction with Nvidia's latest chip offerings and a consideration of alternative providers for its AI models. Despite these rumors, both leaders are projecting a united front, emphasizing mutual respect and the strategic importance of their collaboration.
Oracle's Stance
Oracle, another key player in the technological landscape, has also weighed in on its relationship with OpenAI, particularly concerning OpenAI's substantial computing power needs. OpenAI has secured a multi-year agreement with Oracle to purchase $300 billion worth of computing resources essential for developing its advanced AI models. Oracle has explicitly stated that the ongoing discussions and any developments between OpenAI and Nvidia have absolutely no bearing on their own financial arrangement. The company's official X account conveyed a strong message of confidence, asserting that OpenAI is well-positioned to secure the necessary funding to fulfill its commitments to Oracle.
