Air India's Policy
Air India's cancellation and change fees vary significantly based on the fare class and the proximity to the departure time. For 'Comfort' economy fares,
cancellations incur a ₹4,000 fee, while 'Comfort Plus' and 'Flex' fares offer more leniency. If canceling more than 72 hours before departure, 'Comfort Plus' passengers might pay ₹2,500, and 'Flex' passengers might get a free cancellation. Within 72 hours, cancellation fees rise to ₹3,500 for 'Comfort Plus' and can reach ₹3,500 within 72 hours for 'Flex'. Change fees also differ, with 'Flex' fares often allowing free changes up to 72 hours prior, while other fares can incur fees of ₹3,000 or more, plus potential fare differences.
IndiGo's Fare Tiers
IndiGo structures its cancellation charges around different fare types: Lite, Regular, Flexi Plus, and Return. For domestic flights, if cancellation occurs within 3 days of departure, passengers face a fee of ₹3,500 or the full airfare, whichever is less. For cancellations made 4 days or more before departure, the fee reduces to ₹3,000 or the airfare, whichever is lower. The Flexi Plus fare offers a more favorable rate, with a cancellation fee of just ₹500 for cancellations made 4 days or more in advance. International flights have higher potential charges, ranging up to ₹6,500 for cancellations within 3 days, and up to ₹6,000 for those made 4 days or more in advance, with the Flexi Plus fare again being the most economical at ₹1,000 for cancellations 4 days prior.
Akasa Air's Structure
Akasa Air categorizes its tickets into 'Saver' and 'Flexi' options, with distinct charges for changes and cancellations. Within 0-3 days of departure, both 'Saver' and 'Flexi' fares incur a change fee of ₹3,350, plus any difference in base fare or taxes. Cancellation charges for this period are ₹3,600 for both fare types, or 100% of the airfare, whichever is lower. For cancellations made 4 days or more before departure, the 'Saver' fare has a change fee of ₹2,850 plus fare difference and a cancellation fee of ₹3,100 or 100% of the airfare. The 'Flexi' fare, however, offers significant advantages, with no change fees (only fare difference applies) and a very low cancellation charge of ₹500 for departures beyond 4 days.
SpiceJet's Policies
SpiceJet's cancellation and change fees are determined by the timing relative to the flight departure. Cancellations made within 24 hours of booking are free, provided the flight is more than seven days away. For cancellations made between 24 hours and 96 hours before departure, a charge of ₹3,600 applies. If canceling more than 96 hours before departure, the fee is ₹3,100. Change fees are structured similarly: changes within 24 hours of booking are free (with the same seven-day departure rule), while changes within 96 hours incur a ₹3,350 fee plus any fare difference. Changes made more than 96 hours before departure cost ₹2,850 plus the fare difference.
