Umang App: Your Pocket Assistant
Keeping tabs on your Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) balance is now easier than ever with the Umang app, a government initiative designed to consolidate
various public services. This application allows employees to conveniently view their EPF passbook, initiate claims, and monitor the status of their submitted claims directly from their smartphones. To begin using this service, a straightforward one-time registration process involving your mobile number is required. Once registered, you gain instant access to your EPF account details, making it a highly accessible option for managing your provident fund on the go. This app streamlines access to essential government services, including your EPF information, all within a single, user-friendly interface.
EPFO Portal: Official Access Point
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) portal serves as a central hub for managing your provident fund. To access your EPF passbook and view your balance through this platform, it's essential that your Universal Account Number (UAN) is linked to your account. Once activated by your employer, your UAN becomes your key to logging in. You can navigate to the EPFO website at www.epfindia.gov.in, then select 'For Employees' under 'Our Services,' followed by 'Member Passbook' under 'Services.' This will direct you to a dedicated login page, or you can directly visit https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login.jsp. Here, you can enter your UAN and password to view, download, or print your EPF passbook. Please note that this facility is not available for members of establishments managed by an exempted trust; in such cases, you will need to contact your employer for your PF balance details.
SMS Service: Instant Updates
For a quick update on your EPF balance, the SMS facility offers remarkable convenience, provided your UAN is registered with the EPFO. Simply send an SMS in the format 'EPFOHO UAN ENG' to the number 7738299899. The 'ENG' part indicates the preferred language for the response; you can substitute it with the first three letters of other supported languages like Hindi ('HIN'), Marathi ('MAR'), or Telugu ('TEL') to receive the information in your chosen dialect. This service supports 10 languages, ensuring broad accessibility. It's crucial that the SMS is sent from the mobile number registered with your UAN. For the system to accurately fetch your details, ensure your UAN is linked with your bank account, Aadhaar, and PAN. If this linkage isn't complete, reach out to your employer for assistance.
Missed Call: Hassle-Free Inquiry
Another straightforward method to check your PF balance is by making a missed call. If you have successfully registered on the UAN portal, you can simply dial 011-22901406 from your registered mobile number. The EPFO will then send you an SMS containing your latest PF contribution details and your current balance. This service is provided free of charge. As with the SMS method, it's vital that your UAN is linked with your bank account, Aadhaar, and PAN for the system to retrieve your information correctly. If these details are not yet seeded, your employer can assist you in completing this process. This method eliminates the need for internet access or app downloads, offering a user-friendly alternative for many.
