Cancellation Costly Affair
Cancelling flights can be a headache, with airlines imposing hefty fees. Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air each have distinct policies. These
can vary by fare class, so knowing them is essential to avoid surprises. Understanding these charges can save you a lot.
Air India's Rules
Air India's cancellation fees vary based on cabin class (Economy, Premium Economy, Business, First) and how close to departure you cancel. For instance, Economy class cancellations cost ₹4,000, but could be lower if done more than 72 hours before. Change fees also apply.
IndiGo's Cancellation Fees
IndiGo's cancellation charges hinge on domestic and international travel, as well as how far in advance you cancel. Generally, you could be charged up to ₹3,500 (domestic) or ₹6,500 (international) if you cancel close to departure. The fee may also depend on the fare type.
Akasa Air Charges
Akasa Air presents cancellation fees based on Saver and Flexi fares, with charges rising closer to the flight date. Changes also incur fees, plus any fare difference. Cancellations made within 4 days of departure cost from ₹3,100 to ₹3,600.
SpiceJet's Cancellation Costs
SpiceJet offers fee waivers if cancellation is within 24 hours of booking and if departure is more than 7 days away. Otherwise, charges range from ₹3,100 to ₹3,600 depending on when you cancel. Changes made also incur charges plus any fare difference.
