The palm test is based on the different melting points and textures of pure ghee versus adulterated products. It's a hands-on approach that can provide an immediate indication of the ghee's purity. However, like the other tests, it is most effective when used with the others.
Storage Considerations
Proper storage significantly affects ghee’s shelf life and maintains its purity. Store ghee in an airtight container away from direct sunlight and heat. The ideal storage temperature is room temperature or slightly cooler. Ghee can be stored for several months if stored correctly, but be mindful of any changes in smell, texture, or appearance, as these might indicate spoilage or adulteration. Exposure to air, heat, or light can degrade ghee, altering its flavor and nutritional value. By using appropriate storage methods, you can help preserve the ghee and maintain its quality.

When purchasing ghee, look for established brands with a good reputation. Examine the packaging to ensure it is intact and the expiry date is valid. Consider buying ghee from reputable stores and online platforms to reduce the risk of purchasing adulterated products. Be mindful of the price, as extremely cheap ghee might be a sign of lower quality or adulteration. By carefully choosing your supplier and assessing the product upon purchase, you can improve your chances of buying pure ghee.
