While talking to novelist-author Rita Chowdhury in his last podcast, Zubeen shared, “I stayed in Mumbai for 12 years, I got bored of the city life. People ask me why I don't live in Mumbai? I said, 'A king should never leave his kingdom. There is no king there. When Lata Mangeshkar died, did they do anything? No. When Rajesh Khanna died, there was just news - Rajesh Khanna died. There is no king. The Assam Government has announced its decision to establish memorials in Zubeen’s honour in Kamarkuchi and Jorhat. Besides this, the singer’s ashes will be distributed to organisations and individuals through an online application system.Zubeen died in Singapore on September 19. During a yacht party, he went swimming. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has confirmed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) will probe Zubeen's untimely death.
