Veteran actor Vijay Raaz opened up about the darker side of fame and stardom in Bollywood during a candid conversation. He shared that when fame becomes bigger than the person, it often ends up controlling them. Raaz reflected on how many actors and singers lose themselves in the illusion of popularity. He also called out the industry’s obsession with fame, saying, “Most people seem like slaves.”Vijay Raaz Talks About Fame, Stardom In BollywoodDuring an exclusive chat with Zoom, on the sidelines of his show Jamna Paar Season 2's promotions, Vijay spoke about fame and money. He said, "If you want to become a star, then that’s what you’ll become. But you won’t be able to become an artist. There’s a big difference between the two. An artist is something
else entirely. It points toward the unknown. You sing, and you lose yourself in it. Art helps you disappear, to get lost in something deeper. But where do you get lost? Like when you hear someone playing the flute, you drift away. But to where? That’s the essence of art. That’s its purpose. And it’s something you can only feel. You can’t show it. Stardom is something that’s shown, displayed. But an artist simply is. They don’t need to show themselves, they exist in a state of being."Raaz said that not everyone who acts or sings is necessarily an artist, and often it becomes a transaction where one earns money or fame. The actor added that if fame becomes bigger than a person, it will destroy them. "It will make you its slave. Just look around, most people seem like slaves. That’s because they’ve allowed fame to become larger than the person. And once that happens, fame starts to drive everything. What kind of person are you if you let something virtual become bigger than you? You're a living, breathing human being and you've let a virtual thing enslave you? That means you're very weak," he said.
