
The Delhi High Court recently barred the misuse of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s name, photos, and likeness, including through AI and deepfake videos, to protect her personality rights. Days after the interim
injunction, the actress and her husband Abhishek Bachchan have taken legal action against YouTube and Google over AI-generated deepfake videos. They are reportedly demanding $450,000 (around Rs 4 crore) in damages.Aishwarya Rai-Abhishek Bachchan Sue YouTubeAs per a report by Reuters, the celebrity couple has filed a lawsuit against the video streaming platform and its parent company over “egregious” and “sexually explicit” AI-generated content. They urged YouTube to permanently ban any material that misuses their names, voices, or images. “Such content being used to train AI models has the potential to multiply the instances of infringing use - first being uploaded on YouTube and viewed by the public, and then also being exploited for AI training,” they said in the petition filed on September 6.Examples cited include manipulated videos of Abhishek suddenly kissing an actress, or AI clips showing her with rumoured ex-boyfriend Salman Khan while Abhishek looks on angrily. They also mentioned a channel called AI Bollywood Ishq, which has over 259 videos and more than 16.5 million views. One clip on the handle shows Aish and Salman taking a dip in the pool. It reportedly has 4.1 million views.The lawsuit also targets sellers using their images on fake merchandise like posters, mugs, and autographed photos without permission.The Delhi High Court has asked Google’s lawyers to file written replies. The next hearing in the case is set for January 15, 2026.
