After the delivering the hit film Thuppakki, Vijay and director AR Murugadoss teamed up again for the second time for Kaththi. AR Murugadoss has dedicated the film to farmers as it explores their struggles and lives. The film is streaming on multiple OTT platforms. The original Tamil version of Thalapathy Vijay starrer is currently available for streaming on popular OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. The dubbed Hindi version of the AR Murugadoss' film , titled Khakhi Aur Khiladi, is currently streaming on Zee5.

The action-drama film revolves around Kathiresan (Kathir) a convict who escapes from prison, and plans to leave the country along with his friend Ravi. But he changes his plan after falling for Ankita. Later, Kathir asks his look-alike Jeevanandham (Jeeva), a kind-hearted man who runs an old age home and saves him from getting killed. After admitting Jeeva to the hospital, Karthi impersonates Jeeva to escape the police. As he takes over Jeeva's responsibilities, his life takes a different turn.

Kaththi stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Sathish, Sudip Mukherjee, Rama, Jeeva Ravi, Anu Krishna, and others in the supporting roles. Anirudh Ravichander composed the film's music. George C Williams and A Sreekar Prasad handled the cinematography and editing, respectively. Kaththi is produced by Allirajah Subaskaran, under the banner, Lyca Productions.After Kaththi, Vijay and AR Murugadoss team up for Sarkar a political action film, directed by A R Murugadoss, who co-wrote the dialogues with B Jeyamohan, and produced by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures. The film also featured Vijay, Keerthy Suresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in the lead roles, alongside Yogi Babu, Tulasi and Radha Ravi.
