India’s corporate work culture was yet again labeled ‘insane’, after a rather eye-raising incident allegedly unfolded at a Bengaluru IT company. Taking to social media, a man shared about the said incident. As per the Reddit post on the man, the man’s mother-in-law met with a terrible accident- so much so that she needed constant care for a while. With the aim of taking care of the ailing mother, the man’s sister-in-law requested for Work From Home for about a month. Allegedly, the company first asked for hospital papers and more- which the employee submitted. Later, a meeting was held about the same matter; however, how the meeting ended left everyone shocked. As per the post, the company simply denied the WFH request, despite the employee’s
proof and genuine reason.Later, it was the Redditor’s wife who went to his mother-in-law to take care of her. The post went viral in an instant, leaving netizens triggered and commenting on India’s ‘toxic work culture’. As per the post, during the accident, the mother-in-law’s brother too had received injuries; however, his company too asked him to join the office after just two days of the accident.Times Now could not confirm the authenticity of the post.

“Indian work culture is actually insane,” the post read. “My mother in law and her brother had a scooter accident last week. She fractured her arm, and her brother’s face and hand are all swollen and bruised, thankfully no fractures. My wife’s younger sister lives in Bangalore and works in IT. She asked her company if she could work from home for 1 month since my MIL literally can’t move or do anything right now,” the post read. “They asked for proof, she literally sent them MRI scans, the police report. They scheduled a meeting, just to tell her no and how they have very less bandwidth in their team. Like… wtf? She didn’t even ask for leave, just WFH. And her job doesn’t even need her to be in the office. My wife is staying with her for now, till she gets better. It gets worse, her brother (the one from the accident) was given only two days off and then told to come back to work. His younger brother now drops and picks him up every single day because he’s still in pain. I always heard about how big corporations lack empathy (mr robot), but watching it happen honestly hit me differently. It’s disgusting,” the post concluded. The post was shared on Reddit, by the handle ‘fayazara’. The post was shared 2 days back and pulled more than 1K views from people.
