Elon Musk’s Starlink has received the long-awaited spectrum approval from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), clearing the path for its official rollout. With this nod, the company is gearing up
to kickstart full-scale operations “very soon.” Reports indicate that Starlink is already setting up ground infrastructure, including base stations at 10 different locations, with Mumbai slated to act as the central operations hub. These stations will be key to handling satellite traffic and ensuring smooth connectivity for users across the country.Starlink Speed And CoverageAccording to early reports, Starlink plans to deliver internet speeds between 25 Mbps and 220 Mbps, depending on the package. Entry-level plans could hover in the 25–50 Mbps range, while premium tiers may offer up to 220 Mbps. For rural India, where high-speed internet is often just a dream, this could be nothing short of a revolution. That said, there’s a catch, the Indian government has capped Starlink at 2 million connections initially. This limit could create high demand at launch, especially in underserved regions.Starlink India Launch TimelineWhile the spectrum approval is done, the company still needs the green light for its SATCOM gateway and final spectrum acquisition. If things move according to schedule, Starlink could begin rolling out services between December 15, 2025 and January 10, 2026.ALSO READ: Former Banker In Delhi Loses Rs 23 Crores To Digital Arrest Fraud: What Is It, How To Protect YourselfStarlink Price And Plans In IndiaAs per leaks, the hardware kit, which includes the dish and router might cost around Rs 30,000 or more.
