frame of divinity and the supernatural. B. Ajaneesh Loknath, the composer of Kantara Chapter 1, revealed exclusively to Zoom that the motive behind the score for the climax was to evoke devotion without losing grip over the supernatural elements.
Composing emotional music
In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Ajaneesh said it was a conscious decision to avoid veering into the eerie and focusing on keeping the background score closer to the classic divine nature of Carnatic music. He shared, “Kantara is known for its divine feel. Music had to match the feel. It was a conscious decision to make people feel more divine than scared. Hearts should be filled with bhakti and I did that with Carnatic music.”

He further revealed that Rishab recorded both male and female portions which were then processed to depict Shiva and Shakti’s union. “Female portion in Kantara Chapter 1 was recorded by Rishab and we processed it with technology for the union of Shiva and Shakti. We had to process it to determine the right sound,” he concluded.
