actor Robert Redford's demise on September 16 left Hollywood and the global film fraternity mourning. Both Marvel and DCU biggies joined in to post heartfelt tributes for the legendary artist. While Russo Brothers, who are currently busy making Avengers: Doomsday with Robert Downey Jr shared a click with Redford, Superman director and DC Co-CEO James Gunn also wrote an emotional post. Redford died in his sleep at his Utah home. The actor and environmentalist also founded the Sundance Film Festival in 1978.
Russo Brothers remember directing Robert Redford
Joe and Anthony Russo took to their official Instagram handle and penned a lengthy note, recalling their precious moments with Redford. The legendary actor played the character of Alexander Pierce in Russos' 2014 Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The director duo posted a throwback click featuring the late actor along with RDJ. Russo Brothers wrote in the caption, "We are deeply saddened by the passing of the incomparable Robert Redford — a true legend whose acting and directing inspired us throughout our careers. His legacy will live on through his extraordinary films, his incredible performances, his tireless activism, and the profound influence that Sundance has had on the trajectory of the industry, and the lives of thousands of filmmakers. Meanwhile, James Gunn took to his social media handles too and posted Redford's photo along with paying a tribute to the legacy he has left behind through his body of work. In his text he listed all his favourite films of Redford. "I grew up with his movies: his quiet, unforced performances and ever-present grace. He was THE movie star, and will be greatly missed.
