possibilities that could be explored to turn the franchise into a universe of sorts. The latest movie is a prequel to the 2022 film Kantara. It takes the story deeper into the origins of the mythological tradition and ancestral conflict introduced in the first film.

Kantara's cinematic universe on the cards?

During an interview with Pinkvilla, Rishab spoke about taking up multiple duties of writing, acting and directing the film. When asked with the expansion of the template, would this give way to a cinematic universe? Without revealing anything, Rishab kept his discretion and said, "I don't know much about that. Kantara surely has its world. Last time we said Kantara: A Legend. Then it became a chapter. Let's see what we'll get going forward."

There has been strong buzz that the makers are eyeing to expand the universe of the franchise under the term 'Kantara multiverse'. Fans are hopeful, now that we have a prequel, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1, set in 300 CE that explores the mythological origins of the folklore seen in the original film. It is expected to focus on the ancient past and the conflict between nature and human greed, establishing a larger narrative with future sequels that will continue the story from the first film"I think you'll connect with the possible ideas ahead. Releasing on October 2, Kantara Chapter 1 will be available in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, and English. According to its official synopsis, the film will see Shetty transform into a warrior-mystic destined to become the bridge between mortals and the divine.
