Ahead of the release of Kantara: Chapter 1, Rishab spoke about all possibilities that could be explored to turn the franchise into a universe of sorts. The latest movie is a prequel to the 2022 film Kantara. It takes the story deeper into the origins of the mythological tradition and ancestral conflict introduced in the first film.

During an interview with Pinkvilla, Rishab spoke about taking up multiple duties of writing, acting and directing the film. When asked with the expansion of the template, would this give way to a cinematic universe? Without revealing anything, Rishab kept his discretion and said, "I don't know much about that. Kantara surely has its world. Last time we said Kantara: A Legend. Then it became a chapter. Let's see what we'll get going forward."
