'2 Houses Worth Rs 5 Crore, AI Startup Investor': Bengaluru Auto Driver's Story Breaks Internet
A Bengaluru resident’s recent post on X has taken social media by storm after he shared an unexpected encounter with an autorickshaw driver who, according to him, turned out to be far more than meets the
eye.Akash Anandani wrote that during a routine ride, the driver casually revealed he owned two houses worth Rs 4–5 crore, earned Rs 2–3 lakh a month from rent, and was even an investor in an AI startup. His post read, “Bangalore is f***ing crazy the auto wala bhaiya said he has 2 houses worth 4-5 crores both on rent earns close to 2-3 lakhs per month, and is a startup founder/investor in a AI based startup bruh.”Anandani explained that his curiosity was piqued when he noticed the driver wearing an Apple Watch and AirPods, leading to a conversation that quickly went viral. “This was the first work he started off with so he drives on weekends sometimes,” Anandani added in a follow-up post.
The revelation triggered a flood of reactions — from disbelief to admiration. Some users shared similar anecdotes about Bengaluru’s old-time auto drivers who had once “took big lands for cheap” in tech hubs like Whitefield and continued driving despite their wealth. “They are not founders but investors,” one user commented.Others, however, weren’t convinced. “You made all this up didn’t you?” a skeptical user asked, to which Anandani insisted, “no no,” reiterating how the driver’s gadgets had sparked the conversation in the first place.Adding a humorous twist, one commenter speculated, “He is just an auto driver because he knows being an auto driver is the best way to meet potential founders he can invest into!” Another, tired of the genre altogether, quipped, “Why does this same story keep appearing on my TL every month? I bet you're all being duped by one guy and believing his nonsense.''
