Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook’s film No Other Choice was recently screened at the Busan International Film Festival. It was the opening film at the fest. No Other Choice stars Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin in the lead roles. In a recent interview, the filmmaker opened up about the film. He also discussed the artificial intelligence, aka AI’s, rise.

Park Chan-wook has acknowledged that AI is a disruptive force that is shaping the present moment. He told IndiaToday, “The advancement of AI technology is heralding fundamental changes. It’s not yet at the stage of fundamentally transforming our industries and our daily lives, but the speed of its development is difficult to gauge, so we don’t know what will happen in the near future.” For the unversed, Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice is an adaptation of the novel The Axe. That’s why, when I first decided to create this story, there were certain materials that had to be created at that time. If not, there are bound to be some materials that will eventually fade. At least, I thought that the original novel was one that people could continue to accept as their own stories and the stories of their neighbours, even as time passes.” Talking about Park Chan-wook, the filmmaker has directed many films such as The Moon Is the Sun’s Dream, Trio, Joint Security Area, Lady Vengeance, Thirst, Decision to Leave and so on.
