Vishal Jethwa Reveals Why He 'Trauma Bonded' With Homebound Co-Stars Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter

Actor Vishal Jethwa has opened up about the deep and emotional connection he formed with his Homebound co-stars Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, revealing how director Neeraj Ghaywan encouraged them to develop

genuine bonds beyond the surface level of professional camaraderie.

Vishal's 'trauma boding sessions' with Ishaan, Janhvi

Speaking about his dynamic with Ishaan, Vishal shared with News18, "Ye trauma bonding actually (Neeraj) Sir ne karwaya hai. Unhone bada hi acha solution diya, unhone kaha ki 'Jab tak aap ek doosre ko ache se nahi jaanenge, tab tak film me Chandan aur Shoaib dost lagenge nahi.' Kyonki hum ek doosre ko as an actor jaante the, ek doosre ki personality nahi jaante. Sir ne simply kaha, 'vulnerable ho jao, secret share karo, insecurity share karo, personal life share karo. Jab ye aap ek doosre ko bataoge, tab jaake andar se aap kya ho, wo aap samajh paoge.'”

(Translation: This trauma bonding was actually done by Neeraj sir. He gave us a great solution and said, ‘Until you truly know each other, Chandan and Shoaib won’t look like real friends on screen.’ We only knew each other as actors, not as people. Sir told us to be vulnerable, share secrets, insecurities, and personal experiences. Only then will you understand who the other person really is.)Vishal further explained that if they had maintained only a formal relationship, exchanging pleasantries or wishing each other on birthdays and film releases, they would never have become real friends. He revealed that Neeraj Sir applied the same bonding technique with Janhvi Kapoor as well.He said, "Main Janhvi ke bhi ghar gaya tha. Uske saath baitha, dinner kiya. Humne ek doosre ke liye safe mahaul create karne ki koshish ki."(Translation: I even went to Janhvi’s house, we sat together and had dinner. We tried to create a safe space for each other.)

How Vishal made Ishaan, Janhvi feel safe

Vishal added, "Mujhe bhi unhe safe feel karana zaruri tha, kyonki wo dono filmy family se aate. Unke real life related baatein, mere jaise person ke liye shayad gossip ban jayengi, kyunki main to filmy background se nahi hoon. Maine unhe yahi kaha, ki aap jo bhi mujhe bataoge, main use as a gossip nahi lunga."(Translation: It was important for me to make them feel safe because they come from film families. Their personal stories could easily turn into gossip for someone like me, who isn’t from the industry.
