diplomat Petal Gahlot, who recently made headlines for her sharp remarks at the United Nations General Assembly and her takedown of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is now gaining attention for her musical talent. Videos of her playing the guitar and singing have resurfaced on social media platform X, earning praise from users impressed by her versatility. In May, Gahlot posted a short clip on X performing a cover of “Kabira” from the Bollywood film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The video quickly circulated among her followers, many of whom were surprised to see this side of a diplomat recognized for her direct speeches.
Another video, reshared by a user on X, shows her again playing guitar, possibly singing a French song. In these clips, Gahlot is seated with an acoustic guitar, performing songs in a simple, stripped-down style.
The videos are now going viral, prompting reactions from netizens. One wrote, “On one hand she's dismantling Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif at the UNGA and on the other she's strumming the guitar? Is this the new face of diplomacy or a perfect example of multitasking? We need more diplomats like this.” Another added, “Guitar bajate bajate, pakistan ko baja diya.”Others noted the balance of diplomacy and presentation: “Soft and hard diplomacy must go hand in hand in these challenging times!” and “Petal Gehlot blends diplomacy with charisma—commanding the UNGA stage, dismantling false narratives, and still keeping style and finesse intact.”During India’s Right of Reply at the UN, Gahlot, serving as First Secretary in India’s Permanent Mission, accused Pakistan of harbouring terrorist groups and spreading false narratives to mask its setbacks. She highlighted Operation Sindoor, stating that Pakistan’s military had urgently sought a halt to hostilities after its airbases were damaged. “If destroyed runways and burnt hangars are what the Prime Minister calls a victory, Pakistan is free to take pride in it,” Gahlot said.
