During
the shoot of Dhanush's Idly Kadai, the actor shot a scene where he had to fly mid air and punch his co-star Arun Vijay. However, when the punch didn't land right, it left Arun Vijay bleeding. This action-packed episode left Dhanush worried, however, Arjun Vijay's calm demeanor assured the actor-director that things were okay. At the audio launch of the film, Dhanush's appreciation for Arun Vijay won applause from audiences.

At the event, Dhanush described the unfortunate incident. During a high-octane stunt sequence, a punch from Dhanush accidentally landed on Arun Vijay’s mouth, causing him to bleed. Dhanush spoke about the incident with admiration for Arun Vijay “During a fight sequence, we both had to be in the air. I had to deliver a punch. My hand, by mistake, touched his mouth. He (Arun Vijay) bled. If it was someone else, the shoot would have got halted for two hours. Arun Vijay only took a moment, kept an ice cube there and said, ‘Let’s go.’ Very dedicated, very sincere. Thank you for having absolute faith in me. Absolute privilege to have worked with you and directed you.”
He also confessed to have found a friend in Dhanush. “We had such a great time working with each other. I have found a good friend."Talking about his experience of working in Idly Kadai, Arun Vijay said "I have wanted to work with Dhanush since I saw Raayan, I didn't expect that my wish would be fulfilled this soon. The story that he narrated along with my character arc attracted me to the film. Dhanush is a bundle of talent. I was truly amazed seeing his work. As a director, he is clear on what he wants in the story and has extracted the best from this star cast."

Idli Kadai is set to release on October 1. The film features Dhanush as Murugan and marks his fourth directorial venture after films such as Pa Paandi, Raayan, and Nilavukku En Mel Ennadi Kobam. The ensemble cast includes Nithya Menen as Kayal, Sathyaraj as Vishnu Varadhan, Arun Vijay as Ashwin, Samuthirakani as Marisamy, Rajkiran as Sivanesan, Shalini Pandey as Meera, and Parthiban as R Arivu.
