What is the story about?

The
final episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty, aptly titled At Last puts the Team Conrad and Team Jeremiah supporters to bed. Lola Tung's Belly finally makes her decision in Paris, and it's filled with big romantic gestures and, of course, Taylor Swift songs. Here's how Isabel Conklin went after her man.
Jeremiah Fisher and the rest of the family in Cousins
Co-written by Han and Sarah Kucserka, the supersised series finale is divided up into two timelines. Belly and Conrad in Paris and the rest of the gang in Boston and later the Cousins beach house. Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) is on his way to establish himself as Boston's upcoming young chef. Turns out there was a reason he was obsessed with the two-tier dark chocolate cake with a raspberry coulis filling and a mirror glaze. It foretold his future in the culinary field. The other Fisher brother ends up in a good place after all. He mends his relationship with his father, Adam (Tom Everett Scott), and his roommate, Denise (Isabella Briggs), and he enters into a relationship even though she is moving across the country to San Francisco. Steven (Sean Kaufman), Belly's brother, and Taylor (Rain Spencer), her best friend, also end up happy after having a big fight that could have ended their relationship. Luckily they are able to communicate their fears and move on.Conrad surprises Belly in Paris for her birthday
Conrad (Christopher Briney) shows up at Belly's Paris apartment unannounced the day before her birthday. She is surprised to see him but agrees to take him sightseeing around Paris. In the night, they go out to a pre-birthday dinner with her Parisian friends, who are very interested to meet him. He learns that she broke up with Benito (Fernando Cattori), and Conrad gives her sand in a bottle from the beach at Cousins to hold on to. While blowing out the candles, she has a flashback to previous summers where she spent her birthday with him. Afterwards, the two walk down the streets of Paris and along the Seine, where they air out past grievances and talk about what went wrong.Belly's final choice
Against the romantic setup of the Parisian night, the two kiss again (to Taylor Swift's Dress, no less) and end up spending the night together in bed at Belly's apartment. However, after the intimate reunion, Belly behaves standoffishly, telling Conrad that she's not sure if he really loves her. While Conrad insists he has always loved her from before, she seems to think it was because his late mother, Susannah (Rachel Blanchard), planted the notion of them marrying in their heads. A dejected Conrad dresses and leaves her apartment to catch his train to Belgium. As he walks away, Belly has her moment of 'Oh, no, I've messed this up.' She runs after him to the train station, with another Swift song, Out of the Woods (Taylor's Version), playing in the background. It's Belly's turn to return the romantic gesture and go after her man, wearing the infinity necklace he gave her. She goes through each carriage trying to locate Conrad, and when she finds him, Belly states, "I choose you of my own free will. If there are infinite worlds, every version of me chooses you in every one of them." So there it is: The Summer I Turned Pretty ends with Belly and Conrad finally saying "I love you" and reuniting in Europe, while the rest of the characters remain at the Cousins beach house, happy and content. The final scenes of the show have echoes of the first episode as the reunited couple goes back to the Cousins beach house, where it all started, to Phoebe Bridger's Scott Street. While there's no wedding, it is assumed that these two are forever ever after, with no pesky younger brother in sight.Bonus scenes after The Summer I Turned Pretty series finale
The happy ending is further solidified in the closing credits, which feature snapshots of Conrad and Belly's Christmas in Paris. The couple is snuggled up together with Junior Mint in her Paris apartment in their festive PJs and looks happy in love. The show ends with a note from author and creator Han, which states, "Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love you've shown The Summer I Turned Pretty all these years. Whether you've been with Belly since the very first book or joined us with the show I'm so grateful you've made Belly's story part of your summers. We've put our whole hearts into this show and we're so thankful to you for coming along with us on the ride. Maybe we'll meet again one summer in Cousins. Until then... All of my love always, Jenny."Do you find this article useful?
