Filmmaker Kabir Khan has reacted to President Donald Trump's declaration that the US would impose a 100% tariff on all films produced overseas. It is being seen as a threat to disrupt Hollywood's worldwide
business model. The Chandu Champion director has shared his opinion on the suggested global business model for Hollywood by Trump. According to him, he isn't sure how the tariff would come into play.

Khan told NDTV, "I have no idea what he means when he says 'made outside of the United States' because every second Hollywood film is shot outside of the USA, the VFX is executed outside of the USA. And tariff on what? The ticket price? His statement is too broad to be understood properly. Firstly, let's see if he remembers this tomorrow when he wakes up."
Donald Trump's 100% tariff announcement
In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump had stated that international productions have impacted US' film industry. He wrote, "California, with its weak and incompetent Governor, has been particularly hard hit! Studios and streamers were also caught off-guard by the announcement. The White House is yet to respond and has not made any effort to contact them or the Motion Picture Association ahead of the announcement that's in line with Trump's earlier threat made last May.
