award-winning music composer, GV Prakash and singer Saindhavi are now officially divorced. The Chennai Family Welfare Court has officially granted a divorce to the two. This brings an official end to their eleven-year marriage. The decision, was announced on September 30. This came through after several months of court proceedings and a six-month reconciliation period.

Reports indicate that when the couple filed for divorce, the court allowed a six-month period for a possible reconciliation. During the hearings, GV Prakash and Saindhavi decided to co-parent their child. However, both parties remained firm on their decision to separate, prompting the court to initiate the divorce proceedings.

In a post shared in 2024, the Soorarai Pottru music director had confirmed their separation and wrote, “After much reflection, Saindhavi and I have decided to part ways after 11 years of marriage. For the sake of our mental peace and betterment while preserving our mutual respect for each other. We kindly ask the Media, friends and fans to understand and respect our privacy during this deeply personal transition. Acknowledging that we are growing apart, we believe this is the best decision for each other. Your understanding and support means a lot during this difficult time. Thank You."A few months ago, GV Prakash and Saindhavi performed the romantic number Yaar Indha Saalai Oram from the 2013 film Thalaivaa, which was originally filmed on Vijay and Amala Paul. GV Prakash played the piano and sang the male portion, while Saindhavi sang the female portion. Their heartfelt performance moved the audience and a video of them performing went viral.

The couple were married for over 11 years and have a daughter named Anvi. Months after their split. GV Prakash's mother, singer Reihana mother spoke about their divorce in a podcast. In an interview with Gallata, GV Prakash's mother and singer Reihana said she doesn't know why the divorce took place. She said “Saindhavi is a wonderful person. I don’t know why such things (Divorce) happened. But I would really love her to come back home. When they were together, I would never imagine them to part ways and now when they have separated, I don't think my wish that they reconcile would be fulfilled. it's destiny. I'm not the reason at all.”
