71st National Film Awards 2025: Karan Johar Receives Best Popular Film Honour For RRKPK From President Droupadi Murmu

Karan bagged the National Award for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment category and it's his third one in a row. The filmmaker looked super happy as he received the honour from president Draupadi Murmu in Delhi and fans are in love.
Karan Johar Receives His Third National Award
Dressed in black and looking as sharp as ever, KJo made the crowd present at the ceremony go berserk as they erupted when his name was announced. The ace director made his way to the stage gracefully and humbly accepted the honour from the president.Speaking on the red carpet with DD Live, Karan stated, "I feel deeply honoured to receive my third consecutive National Award. Shershaah was recognised in 2021, Brahmāstra received the Best VFX Award in 2022, and this year, our film has been awarded the Most Wholesome and Popular Entertainer of the Year. Walking the red carpet at the National Film Awards has become a humbling tradition, and I’m truly grateful for the continued love and recognition."

Shershaah was awarded the Special Jury Award (Feature Film) at the 69th National Film Awards, while Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukerji, won the National Award for the categories Best Film in AVGC, Best Male Playback Singer, and Best Music Director at the 70th National Film Awards.

The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu at a grand ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, Karan's film won two awards at this year's National Film Awards, another one being Best Choreography category bagged by Vaibhavi Merchant. Producer Apoorva Mehta, along with Karan, and choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant were all present to receive their awards from President Draupadi Murmu at the ceremony in New Delhi on September 23.
