As Kamal Haasan walked towards Robo Shankar's mortal remains, the late actor's daughter Indraja Shankar began to wail. She cried and said "father, see who is come". Kamal Haasan then consoled an emotional Indraja Shankar, before exited the premises.

Soon after the news of his death broke, Kamal Haasan expressed grief and called Robo Shankar his 'younger brother'. His tweet read "Robo Shankar Robo is just a pseudonym In my dictionary, you are a human Therefore, my younger brother So, will you just leave me and go? You left, your job is done My job remains unfinished. You left tomorrow for us Therefore, tomorrow is ours."
