talent in Indian cinema. First held in 1954 to honour achievements in Hindi films, the awards have since grown to include South Indian, Punjabi, Marathi films, and even web series. A starry night, the event ceremony featured the show's who of Bollywood, while Superstar Shah Rukh Khan along with ace filmmaker Karan Johar took over the hosting duties. The winners for Best Director and Best Film have finally been announced as Kiran Rao for her film Laapataa Ladies.

The Filmfare Awards celebrated the visionaries behind the camera, the Best Director nominees. This year, the panel shortlisted some of the most acclaimed filmmakers for their standout work in theatres and on OTT platforms. The nominees included Amar Kaushik (Stree 2), Nikhil Nagesh Bhat (Kill), Aditya Suhas Jambhale (Article 370), Anees Bazmee (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3), and Kiran Rao (Laapataa Ladies). And Kiran Rao won the trophy as Best Director for her hit film Laapataa Ladies.On the other hand, The Best Film category had some of Bollywood's biggest commercial blockbusters. A diverse range of genres was represented this year, with Article 370, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Kill, Laapataa Ladies, and Stree 2 earning nominations.
