Anurag talks about Nishaanchi's struggle with censor board
"A lot of misunderstandings that I had was cleared when I went to the censor board," Kashyap said. "See, what happens is they are doing a job. There is a new set of instructions that comes in last year, some new rules were made internally, right. They have to follow the rules."The director further explained how the board itself responded to his concerns. "And they told me, ‘You want change?’ Because they were also triggered by my post. They told me on my face, ‘Apko badlav chahiye to aap poori industry ikattha kyon nahin ho jaate ho aur ladte kyon nahin ho? Aap ikattha nahin hote to aap humko blame karo. Hum to apna kaam kar rahe hain.’ They said that hum apna kaam kar rahe hain. Hum hamari jo naukri hai, hum apna kaam kar rahe hain. Aur vo sahi bol rahe the."
Why Anurag changed his mind about the censor board
Kashyap admitted that his perspective shifted after the interaction. “Unhone kaha aap log ikatthe nahin hote aur aap ladh rahe ho un logon ke liye jo khud ke liye nahin ladhte. They told me if you want this certificate yeh ek do shabd hai jo aapko badalne padenge aur agar aapko adult lena hai to theek hai le jaiye sab clear hai.”He went on to share how he resolved the issue: "Maine kaha nahin nahin mujhe adult nahin chahiye, mujhe UA 16 chahiye, lekin main creatively apne shabdon ko badal badalna chaahunga aur unhone kaha theek hai. They agreed. It was very smooth, very clear conversation. I had no problem. Meri galatfahmi door ho gayi. Jab main censor board gaya to us din tak meri post thi. Us din maine censor board se nikalne ke baad delete ki."
