Busy Mom of Two Overcomes Joint Pain and Body Shaming, Loses 28 Kilos with Consistent Diet and Workouts
A busy mom of two overcame heel pain, body shaming, and mental health issues to become a confident, healthy, and fit individual by losing 29 kilograms of weight with consistency and dedication. For 38-year-old
Sonali Lahoria, a homemaker, the journey has not been an easy one. Sonali, a homemaker, was struggling with heel pain so much that at one point it became difficult for her to even walk – and despite taking medication and therapy, she could not find relief. That is when Sonali decided to transform her life for the better.
How did Sonali lose weight?
Before she lost weight, Sonali weighed 85 kilos, due to which she had to battle judgment and body shaming from friends and relatives. However, despite facing resistance from family, she joined a gym and discovered the Fittrr community. "Today I feel proud, confident, and full of purpose. My kids follow my lead and now aim to inspire other moms to rise above trauma judgment and find their true strength,” she said. Sonali said initially she lacked proper guidance on diet and exercise, which led to hair fall, bad skin, and no muscle gains. “There were also mental health struggles and self-doubt, constantly battling the fear of failure and societal judgment,” she said. However, she stayed motivated through a mix of pain, purpose, and powerful support. “The turning point was my unbearable heel pain. It reminded me daily that I needed to change, then came the supportive group of friends, my husband, and the Fittrr community,” Sonali added.
What was Sonali’s diet?
Sonali’s diet is all about sustainability, simplicity, and consistency, which includes all home-cooked and simple meals. “I do not eat any fancy or restrictive foods, just basic home-cooked meals. Focus is on balancing nutrition, protein, carbs, and fat in the right proportion,” she said. Sonali follows the guidance of her coach as she says he has a deep understanding of what works on her body. She also totally avoided crash diets and fad trends that earlier caused hair fall in patches of skin.
Sonali’s workout is a mix of cardio and strength training
For her exercise, Sonali said she began with long walks that helped reduce heel pain and kickstart her fat loss. “Gradually, I moved to structured gym workouts that were designed by my coach and included strength, training, cardio, and a daily step count target of 10,000 steps daily.
Sonali’s advice to those looking to transform their physical and mental health
“My advice to anyone starting a transformation journey, especially mothers, is that they must begin small and stay consistent, as even a short walk can spark change,” she said. Sonali also speaks against chasing quick fixes, fad diets, and shortcuts that will only harm your health. Also, as a person who was mocked for her weight, Sonali can now proudly suggest, “ignore the noise. Society will judge, but their opinions don’t define you; your actions do. Instead, surround yourself with the right people and a supportive coach community, or even one believing friend can make all the difference.”
