Jeremy Renner REACTS To Marvel Replacing Him With Hawkeye Variant In Avengers: Doomsday, Secret Wars - 'If They Want...'
Times Now
Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton aka Hawkeye seems to have finally retired as an Avenger. Infact, the actor even shared an important update on the status of his MCU character ahead of Avengers: Doomsday. Renner was
last seen playing Hawkeye in his standalone Disney+ web series. But owing to the turn of events in the plot, he passed on the mantle to Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop. Now, it seems like he's done playing the character.
Hawkeye to return?
During an interview with Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM, the MCU veteran was quized if he was part of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The actor rejected the claims. He said, "No. No." Reacting further to whether it worried him that Marvel would replace him with a Hawkeye Variant through the multiverse, Renner said with a laugh, "If they want to do that [replace him with a Hawkeye Variant] they can go ahead by all means and do that [Laughs]. I'm pretty busy myself."
Hawkeye in future MCU
During the big cast announcement of Avengers: Doomsday earlier this year, Renner was not a part of it. Infact, so far, there hasn't been any word from Marvel about Hawkeye's return. Fans are now taking it as a hint at his non-involvement in future projects, even though many wonder whether he'd come back for the next possible season of his miniseries. But things remain undecided.Renner had last year teased his return as Hawkeye for Avengers: Doomsday, acknowledging the project was in early stages then. He revealed of being "really excited" about the tentpole project, and about Robert Downey Jr. returning, not as Iron Man, but Doctor Doom.ALSO READ: Mark Ruffalo Breaks Silence On Why Solo Hulk Movie Might NEVER Happen: We Keep Talking But...
