‘fat pride’- Chunk, regardless, emerged a winner! For those aware, the Fat Bear Week 2025 was to find the ‘fattest bear of the year’. The tournament was held among the bears of Alaska- at the Brooks River in Katmai National Park. The voting was done online.The tournament is reportedly held every year right before winter, before brown bears go into hibernation. For those not aware, getting fat is a survival tactic that brown bears opt for- to better survive the months-long hibernation. Basically, the tournament celebrates the animals’ ‘success in preparation for winter hibernation’, as per Explore Fat Bear Week 2025.As per Explore Fat Bear Week 2025, the matchups opened for voting from September 23, and ended on September 30.
