Zubeen Garg’s Ashes To Be Distributed Online By Assam Government; Memorials To Be Established At Kamarkuchi, Jorhat

Singer Zubeen Garg’s shocking demise indeed left the entire country in deep sorrow. Especially, the Assam government announced 3-day mourning after the tragic demise of the Assamese singer in Singapore.

He was 52 and died due to drowning while doing scuba diving on September 19. Zubeen’s funeral was attended by thousands of people in Guwahati. Amidst all, the Assam government has now decided to distribute his ashes online owing to fans’ love for him.

Zubeen Garg’s memorials to be built at Kamarkuchi

The Assam government has decided to pay tribute to the singer and cultural icon, Zubeen Garg. They will distribute his ashes to organisations and individuals through an online application system. Apart from that, the memorials are also set to be established at Kamarkuchi, where he was cremated with state honour. For the unversed, Zubeen Garg spent his early years in Kamarkuchi, Jorhat. The officials confirmed the development to safeguard the cremation ground immediately. Education and Cultural Affairs Minister Ranoj Pegu has announced a dedicated portal to manage the requests for Garg’s ashes. He said, “The spot where the pyre was built and lit will be secured from tonight itself. Temporary barricades were already there, and work on the permanent boundary of the pyre site will start tonight.”“The Assam government will open a simple portal through which organisations and institutions can apply to obtain the ashes of their beloved artiste. The Cultural Department will look after it,” the minister added.

The rituals connected with the 13th day of death will be performed at Jorhat. A memorial will also be built there, with site finalisation to be done soon.” The work will start at the Kamarkuchi cremation ground soon. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that at the request of Zubeen’s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, and family, the state government would arrange for the ashes to be taken to Jorhat for the 13th-day rituals. He also informed us that the second memorial will be constructed in Jorhat. The minister concluded his statement by stating, “Ashes will be with the cultural affairs department of the state government. A portal will be created in the next two days. Any institution or establishment will be able to avail itself through a systematic mechanism. Thereafter, if individual applications are received, the cultural affairs department of the state government will consider them as well.” The news must have made Zubeen Garg’s fans happy, as the government is not leaving any chance to give heartfelt tribute to the late singer
