One of the most anticipated categories, Best Actress, was announced. Alia Bhatt wins Best Actress
Alia Bhatt was honoured with the Best Actress award. In the critics category, the nominations for Best Actor Female were Alia Bhatt (Jigra), Kareena Kapoor Khan (The Buckingham Murders), Nitanshi Goel (Laapataa Ladies), Pratibha Ranta (Laapataa Ladies) and Vidya Balan (Do Aur Do Pyaar). Pratibha Rannta won the honour.On October 11, Jigra celebrated its first anniversary. The story revolves around Satya Anand (Alia) and her younger brother Ankur (Vedang), who is jailed in a foreign country. He is falsely accused of possessing drugs. Satya breaks the jail boundaries to rescue her innocent brother. Karan Johar produced Jigra along with Alia's Eternal Sunshine Productions.During an interaction with Jay Shetty on his podcast, Alia reacted to Jigra’s box office run. She said, “I’m a very passionate actor, professional, producer. I’m passionate about that. I have dreams with regard to my work, which I don’t think ever end. I don’t think I’m ever comfortable, and I really like that about my mind.”She added, “I had a film released last year that didn’t do really well, and that’s given me a new vigour for a new dream to try and do over. It’s something I feel very charged by. So that’s the professional dream.”
