Unfiltered Ujjwal Nikam
During a recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra on YouTube, public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam recalled the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case. He mentioned, "Personally, I believe that he was crazy about weapons. That’s why he had one AK-56 rifle. But before the blasts, Abu Salem brought one tempo full of weapons and Sanjay saw it. He kept one rifle for himself and returned the rest. He was also imprisoned for seven years under the Arms Act. Sanjay didn’t know that the blast was going to happen, but even if he had informed that these weapons came in—and they had RDX, hand grenades—then the police would have investigated and stopped the blasts." "After the court declared Sanjay Dutt as guilty, Bollywood launched a campaign saying, ‘Baba, you are not guilty, we are with you.’ So I gave a statement in the press, ‘I will prosecute, you are trying to pressurise the judiciary.’ Bollywood thanda pad gaya (Bollywood stopped after that)," he added. The actor was sentenced to six years imprisonment for illegal possession of weapons. He finished serving his sentence in 2016.
