Zubeen Garg Death: Assam CM Issues Strict Warning Against Use Of AI-Generated Images That Mislead Public
Zubeen Garg's untimely demise left everyone in shock. The renowned singer breathed his last on September 19 in Singapore. Recently, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma issued a strong warning against
the circulation of AI-generated images aimed at misleading people over the death of the singer. He stated that anyone found sharing such fake visuals would face strict legal consequences.The Chief Minister’s statement came after a digitally altered photo went viral on social media. Sarma urged citizens not to spread misinformation or tampered images that could disrupt the ongoing investigation. He said, “Some people have been seen spreading misinformation and abusing Zubeen Garg’s sudden death for political gain. Some people are trying to disturb Assam with photoshopped images to defame the Assam government. These people are definitely not true fans of Zubeen Garg; they are, in fact, criminals."
The CM's statement followed a warning from the Assam Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which cautioned that anyone sharing fake news or AI-generated photos of Mahanta or Sharma on social media would face strict legal consequences. The post read, “Assam Police is strictly monitoring social media platforms. If anyone is found spreading fake AI-generated pictures or fake news, strict legal action will be initiated against them.”
Zubeen Garg passed away in Singapore on September 19 after an alleged drowning incident. His body was flown to the national capital, Delhi, and later transported to Assam on a commercial flight that landed in Guwahati on Sunday morning. Garg was in Singapore for the Northeast India Festival.His final rites were carried out in the Kamarkuchi village of Assam on September 23, in the presence of hundreds of fans, his family members, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, and other political leaders.
