
Meta is taking a big step towards breaking language barriers on social media, the US-based tech giant has announced that its Reels translation feature for Instagram and Facebook is now expanding to more languages, including Hindi and Portuguese. Earlier this year, in August, the company had launched this feature only in English and Spanish. Instagram Head Adam Mosseri shared the update through a video on Instagram, explaining why the feature matters. “Most of the videos on Instagram are in a language you don't speak, but that doesn't mean you aren't interested in them,” he said. To drive the point home, Mosseri switched languages mid-video, seamlessly dubbing his voice in Hindi, Spanish and Portuguese using Meta AI. Even Mark Zuckerberg shared a similar

To make the videos feel more authentic, creators can also turn on lip-syncing, which aligns the translated audio with their mouth movements. Once dubbed, the videos carry a clear “Translated with Meta AI” label so viewers know AI was used. If someone prefers to watch the original version, Meta has built in an easy toggle.
