Reports say that after a thorough search, officials confirmed that the threat was a hoax. The scare came as part of a series of similar email threats received by several VIPs and public figures across Chennai including the homes of Trisha, Vijay and Nayanthara. The Chennai city police revealed that the bomb threat to Ilaiyaraaja’s premises had resemblance to previous hoax emails sent to several prominent figures. Among the targets were AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami, NTK coordinator Seeman. Authorities have increased efforts to trace the details of the sender. The Cyber Crime and City Police units have launched a detailed investigation to identify the origin of the threat. On the professional front, Ilaiyaraaja is in a legal battle due to ongoing copyright dispute. The veteran composer has filed a case in the Madras High Court against some popular companies., alleging unauthorized commercial use of his songs.
