The legal fight over late businessman Sunjay Kapur's massive estate worth Rs 30,000 crore is getting more intense. His children with Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan Raj Kapur, on Thursday, September
25, claimed that bank accounts have been 'wiped out', after Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay's wife, moved court seeking permission to list his assets in a sealed envelope. Earlier, the court had ordered Priya to share a full list of Sunjay Kapur's assets. Following this, Priya filed an application asking permission to submit the details in a sealed envelope, or at least through a Confidentiality Club, to keep financial details private. Her lawyer argued, "There are bank details, other financial details. Why should the public have someone’s bank account number?" The counsel further said, "As far as I am concerned, this is a lot of information to be in public," adding that press conferences after hearings were making things worse.ALSO READ - Karisma Kapoor's Kids Refute Priya Sachdev's Claim Of Them Receiving Rs 1900 Crore From Sunjay Kapur's AssetsHowever, Justice Jyoti Singh expressed concern over the confidentiality request. The judge said allowing such secrecy could harm the rights of Sunjay’s children, who are direct beneficiaries of the estate. She noted, "Allowing the application may be problematic for the simple reason that as the alleged beneficiary of the estate, they (Samaira and Kiaan) have a right to question the assets disclosed. So, tomorrow if they have to verify and go about asking what has happened, if they are bound by this confidentiality club, how will they ever defend their case?"The children's lawyer strongly opposed hiding property details, insisting that full disclosure was necessary. The counsel also claimed that 'banks have been wiped off, there is nothing left in the bank account'. For context, on September 10, the court had directed Priya to hand over a list of all assets. Samaira and Kiaan have already challenged Sunjay's will, demanding their rightful share in his estate. Priya, however, informed the court that the two had already received Rs 1,900 crore from the family trust.Adding to the tension, Sunjay's mother, Ms Rani Kapur, has also filed an application demanding details of the will. Earlier, she claimed she lost assets worth over Rs 10,000 crore.
