Sanu’s ex-wife, Rita Bhattacharya, has made bold revelations about her troubled marriage with the singer and her strained relationship with his family. In a recent interview, Rita alleged that Kumar Sanu and his elder sister mistreated her, even pressuring her to abort her child.

Sharing details in an interview with Siddharth Kannan

Uski behan apne boyfriend ko leke Bombay aagyi, unke teen bachhe the, do beta, ek beti, unki beti ko bhi maine shaadi karaya, she was a quiet aged lady, unka beta bahut brilliant tha babu shona, and chota beta Fuchan and elder daughter Bhunuma, inko chodhke hamare grandson mere Ghar pe aagye hain and seedha meri, my life is straight, I believe apne galat kaam nahi kiya, kisi aur ne kiya toh apne kyun dekha, then you are also wrong, I belive in that institute. I never saw Sanu drinking or smoking cigarettes in my house."(Translation: "Sanu’s sister must have been around 50 at that time. His elder sister couldn’t digest his success, wealth, and fame. It was impossible for them to accept that I was in the limelight, though I was very happy. His sister even came to Bombay with her boyfriend. She had three children two sons and a daughter and I got her daughter married. She was already a middle-aged woman. Her elder son was brilliant, nicknamed Babu Shona, the younger one was Fuchan, and the daughter was Bhunuma. Leaving them behind, our grandson came to stay at my place directly. My life is straightforward, I believe if you don’t do anything wrong but stay silent about others’ wrongdoing, then you’re equally guilty. I strongly believe in this principle. I also never saw Shanu drinking or smoking in my house.")

Rita on Alleged Torture and Neglect
