Charli XCX Reveals Why She Turned Down Tour Documentary: Feel Like My Problem With...
Times Now
Charli XCX is on her way to becoming a movie star with seven films due to release in the near future. In a new interview, though, the Grammy winner revealed that she turned down an opportunity to film a tour
documentary. Her refusal comes on the heels of fellow singer Taylor Swift announcing an Eras Tour six-part docuseries and a final concert film for Disney+. Amid rumours of a feud between the pop stars, here's what Charli XCX said.
Why Charli XCX said no to a tour documentary
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Charli XCX revealed that she turned down creating a tour documentary because she felt the market was too saturated. She said, "I feel like my problem with a lot of musician documentaries is it often shows the musician coming up against some kind of opposition and eventually overcoming it to be the hero. And that’s just not been my experience, you know? Maybe it has been a lot of other people’s, and that’s awesome."The timing of Charli's quote comes at a time when she is rumoured to be feuding with Taylor Swift. While Charli XCX and Camila Cabello opened for Taylor on her 2018 Reputation tour, on the Anti-Hero singer's latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, certain lyrics on the track Actually Romantic are seen as a diss against Charli. On the last episode of Saturday Night Live on October 11, Charli appeared during Role Model's song Sally wearing a Kansas City Chiefs T-shirt, which fans interpreted as a clapback against Taylor as well.ALSO READ: Taylor Swift Announces Eras Tour Docuseries And Final Show Film: When And Where To Watch OTT Releases
