
Popular comedian-actor Kapil Sharma’s Netflix show, The Great Indian Kapil Show, has landed in legal trouble over a skit featuring Hera Pheri’s iconic character, Baburao. stated that it is a registered trademark owned by the family, and the makers cannot use it without permission. The producer has demanded that Netflix and others remove all content featuring the character immediately, issue an apology within 24 hours, and ensure it is not used again without authorisation. They are also seeking Rs 25 crore in damages, warning of legal action if their demands are not met.Advocate Sana Raees Khan, representing the Hera Pheri maker, said, “The unauthorised use of my client’s iconic character is not just infringement. It is blatant theft for commercial gain. These rights have been lawfully earned and zealously protected, and will now be defended with full legal force. No one has the liberty to treat a creative legacy as a free-for-all.”Meanwhile, the Kapil Sharma show's team is yet to react to the complaint. Further details are awaited.
