James Gunn bring in Darkseid, at par with MCU' Thanos? Gunn brought his Marvel experience to DC. While his finesse at handling superheroes was seen in his debut DCU movie Superman starring David Corenswet, the tag of Marvel continues to loom. Infact it isn't easy fo Gunn, who also has to forego of Zack Snyder, who left a deep impression in the minds of DC fandom. Salvation prison dimension in Peacemaker
In Peacemaker finale, we saw John Cena's non-meta-human anti-hero becoming a guinea pig to test out ARGUS' Salvation prison dimension. Given how Darkseid serves as a central figure in the Salvation storyline, fans are now curious to know more about the tease to the Salvation run in the Peacemaker Season 2 finale. Gunn has finally reacted to the intense buzz, stating he doesn't intend to follow through on that direction. In a conversation with Screen Crush, Gunn revealed that he was holding back on Darkseid's influence because of Thanos, given the latter's similar role in Marvel's Infinity Saga. He said in the interview, that his version of Salvation exists in a universe that does not stick to the script DC Comics fans would expect for Darkseid. The character has already featured in Snyderverse's Justice League."I don’t expect that to be exactly what it is," he said, even though he liked the idea of 2007 Bill Willingham/Lilah Sturges limited series Salvation Run. "I liked the idea of supervillains building a society in this other dimension. And I liked the way that it was a very practical way that Amanda Waller and Rick Flag Jr., in that instance, were trying to deal with the problem of meta-humans who continuously escaped from prison in a way that I think a fed-up government might. Those were the things that interested me," he added.Darkseid Vs Thanos
Further stating that making Darkseid the big bad of the first chapter would've been too reminiscent of Thanos. "Aspects of Darkseid and Thanos are very similar, they look very similar and because of that, to give you more of an answer than you expected, using Darkseid as the big bad is not necessarily the thing," Gunn said."For a lot of reasons, because Zack [Snyder] did it so cool in his way and because of Thanos and Marvel," he expressed.Fans still await to know more as to who James Gunn would bring in to fill the big shoes of Darkseid.Do you find this article useful?
