Zubeen Garg Death Case: NEIF Organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta Defends Himself After SIT Raids His House

on September 19, 2025. A day before his demise, Zubeen Garg was supposed to perform at the Northeast India Festival. During the investigation, Assam Police’s Special Investigating Team (SIT) conducted a separate raid at NEIF organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta’s house. Now, he has released a video on Facebook defending himself and the organisation after the SIT raid.
NEIF organiser reacts to SIT raid
In the video shared by Shyamkanu Mahanta on Facebook, the organiser of the Northeast India Festival said that his name has been dragged only for TRP purposes. He claimed that the allegations levelled against him are without evidence. Shyamkanu further revealed that he got to know about Zubeen Garg’s demise at 3:30 pm on September 19. He had invited him for the event. Hence, he doesn’t consider it his fault, as Zubeen was the brand ambassador. Shyamkanu Mahanta stated that Zubeen Garg was staying at the five-star Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore. In his performance, he had decided to pay tribute to Bhupen Hazarika.

As per PTI report, none of his family members, except for two helpers, were present.
