The Ba***ds Of Bollywood: Aryan Gave Perfect Nod To Father Shah Rukh Khan With THESE Movie References
The
Ba***ds Of Bollywood is an unapologatic mirror to our film industry. It's wildly crazy that keeps one hooked from the very first frame to the last. Aryan Khan has taken absoute liberty in presenting the realities of movies unabashedly and no one's complaining. While he presented an absolute nostalgia dose with the dozens of references to the 90s, he didn't even let go of his own father, superstar Shah Rukh Khan to give a nod to many of his film.ALSO READ: The Ba***ds Of Bollywood: Arjun Kapoor Joins Aryan Khan, Raghav Juyal As 'OG Legend' Emraan Hashmi's Fan: Poori Industry Ek TarafWe list down some of the striking dots the Netflix series connected with SRK movies, and how Aryan gave a brilliant shoutout to each one.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
When Lakshya and Sahher Bambba fail to strike the "mirroring" during their intimacy sessions coached by the OG Emraan Hashmi, their mentor locks them up on a balcony-terrace out of frustration. Sehher wearing a green, and Lakshya in a yellow shirt candidly talk about life while feeling an unspoken magnetic pull. Just when they are about to kiss, Emraan barges in to remind them how they've finally managed to strike that mirroring with same hand gestures and head movements. The setup of this scene was picked from Shah Rukh and Kajol's iconic moment in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, when they looked back at their old friendship, while feeling the same tension between them. Kajol is wearing a green saree and SRK is in a yellow T-shirt.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham
After Lakshya's father passes away due to complications post his liver transplant, he's broken due to a lie he told him before his death. Now, at the funeral it gets difficult for Lakshya to fire the pyre. That's when his uncle (Manoj Pahwa) and closest friend Parveiz (Raghav Juyal) hold him on the left and right to give him the much needed support. This is a direct reminder of K3G when Amitabh Bachchan gets a similar hand of support from his sons Hrithik Roshan and SRK on both sides when he's giving fire to his mother.
SRK's back-to-back flops
There's a moment where Sahher Bambba talks about her father Bobby Deol's slump. She says this was he had six back-to-back flops leaving their house and family in darkness. Viewers believe this was a reference to SRK's worst phase in career post 2017-2018 after his two movies Jab Harry Met Sejal and Zero bombed at the box office and critics writing him off. SRK went into a shell, took a break of several years to restructure his choices, and returned with blockbusters Pathaan and Jawan, both in 2023. Aryan, seems to be referencing that through Sahher's emotions, revealing even the kids of such stars face the worst of their parents' failure.
Don 3
Even though this wasn't a direct nod, there's a moment when Ranveer Singh shown to be speaking on phone with another filmmaker about keeping all his dates free for his movie. He states that he's not doing Karan Johar's movie as KJo is in talks with Vicky Kaushal. This is also when Ranveer's discreet call gets recorded in the background of Raghav who's also making a video call on the same terrace. Throughout Ranveer's conversation, the tune of original Don plays that starred SRK. Though Shah Rukh is not part of the third movie as Ranveer is said to be replacing him in Don 3, the franchise reboot, placing its OST on Ranveer was a clever move.
Badshah
In a hilarious mismatch of names, when Manoj Pahwa mistakes SRK's Badshah with the music composer Badshah, it gives way to a silly, funny sequence. Shah Rukh holds the tag of "Badshah of Bollywood", and the words usage in the series was taken from his 1999 film Baadshah. The Ba***ds Of Bollywood has countless references to many other films, but the ones around Shah Rukh Khan surely stand out.
