
India will reopen its embassy in Kabul, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Friday told the Taliban-ruled Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. Jaishankar on Friday held talks with
Muttaqi. This is the first high-level trip from Kabul after the Taliban seized power following the collapse of the Ashraf Ghani government over four years back.India will be upgrading its technical mission in the Afghan capital Kabul to an embassy, Dr Jaishankar said on Friday. "India is fully committed to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Afghanistan. Closer cooperation between us contributes to your national development, as well as regional stability and resilience. To enhance that, I am pleased to announce today the upgrading of India’s Technical Mission in Kabul to the status of Embassy of India," said Jaishankar in his bilateral meeting with Afghanistan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.
