Vir Hirani to make Bollywood debut
According to a report by PeepingMoon, Vir will headline a romantic drama backed by Hansal Mehta’s production banner, True Story Films. The film boasts an exceptional creative lineup, with Lijo Jose Pellissery, the visionary Malayalam filmmaker, making his Hindi directorial debut. Casting for the female lead is currently in progress, and production is expected to begin in February 2026. The collaboration between Pellissery, Mehta, and AR Rahman hints at a visually rich and emotionally resonant love story.

Pellissery, known for his pathbreaking films such as Angamaly Diaries (2017) and Jallikattu (2019), has earned widespread acclaim for his fearless storytelling and distinctive cinematic approach. However, the upcoming Hansal Mehta production will officially mark his big-screen debut, positioning him as an emerging talent to watch.

On the directing front, Mehta recently unveiled Gandhi, an ambitious biographical series on Mahatma Gandhi that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and is currently working on a Netflix business drama featuring Anil Kapoor and Vijay Varma.
