On Zubeer Garg's illustrious career
Zubeen's career was marked by versatility and talent. A multi-instrumentalist, he could play 12 instruments, including the guitar, tabla, and drums. Fluent in over 40 languages and dialects, Zubeen’s musical contributions spanned Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, and many other regional languages. In 2011, he was honoured as Guest Artist of the Year by the Assam Convention in Chicago.Born in Tura, Meghalaya, Zubeen was influenced by a family of musicians. His personal life was marked by the tragic loss of his sister, Jongki Borthakur, in a car accident, which inspired his album Xixhu. Zubeen married fashion designer Garima Saikia in 2002 and identified as irreligious.
