In a statement to ANI, Sarkar suggested that the move appears to be aimed primarily at bringing back Hollywood productions that have increasingly shifted overseas. Sarkar said, “My interpretation of Trump's statement is that it mainly targets Hollywood productions currently happening outside the USA, in countries like Canada, Spain, and South Korea. It may not directly affect foreign-language films being released in the U.S. However, based on what he posted on Truth Social, the specifics are unclear. We would prefer to see the formal executive order before making a final assessment," Sardkar added.

He claimed that foreign countries had "stolen" the U.S. movie business, placing particular blame on California and its leadership. He wrote, “Our movie-making business has been stolen from the United States of America by other countries, just like stealing candy from a baby. California, with its weak and incompetent Governor, has been particularly hard hit!”He continued, “Therefore, in order to solve this long-time, never-ending problem, I will be imposing a 100% Tariff on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States.
