Kanna Ravi Admits To Working In Coolie 'Just For Thalaivar': I Did It For Rajini Sir And Lokesh Anna | EXCL
Those who watched Rajinikanth's Coolie, couldn't help but feel sad about Arjun, the character who was double crossed by his one true love. The actor who delivered this convincing act, as the honest yet
vulnerable man, was Kanna Ravi. Soon after the release, the actor won accolades for his role in director Lokesh Kanagaraj's directorial. In an exclusive chat with Zoom, Kanna Ravi talks about choosing to work in the project.
Kanna Ravi ADMITS To Working In Coolie Only For Rajinikanth
In his last two films, Lover and Coolie, Kanna Ravi played the 'nice guy', who tries to do his best inconspicuous of the red flags around him. Ask him if he was deliberately choosing to work in such roles, Kanna Ravi said "Not really! See before Lover, I played characters with shades of grey in my other films, so when I was approached with this movie, I thought it is a fresh take, why not do it....and about Coolie...I have to tell you that it did it just for Thalaivar. It was a no brainer because it is not always that you get a chance to work with Rajini sir. Lokesh anna wanted me to be a part of the film, and that by itself is a big blessing. He (Lokesh Kannagaraj) told me 'see, although this is a multi starrer, your role will stand out, and I trusted him. And just as he promised, my role did get attention."
On being asked about the best piece of advice he received from an actor, he said "One actor told me, 'you are doing well, but don't think everything will be laid out to you in a platter, if you want to get better work, you need visibility, and for that you need to have an urge to work in more projects.', That advice, really kept me going and that's why when I was approached for Veduvan (his web series), it was one of the reasons I decided to do it. More over, the project by itself felt like a challenge and I love challenges."
