Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Salman Khan has written, "Saddened to hear of Asrani Ji’s demise. A true legend of laughter. #RIP."

The actor's last rites were also performed in the city at the Santacruz crematorium. The veteran's death was confirmed by his nephew Anand Asrani. Hours before his passing, the veteran actor-director, took to Instagram to wish his fans a Happy Diwali. Speaking to ETimes, Asrani's manager, Mr. Thiba confirmed the shocking news and revealed details of the veteran star's final moments. He said, "He was not feeling well and was admitted to Arogya Hospital four days ago due to breathing issues. He passed away at around 3 PM today. His last rites were performed at 8 PM today. The family is back home now… very sad."
Govardhan Asrani's work front
On the work front, He was last seen in the JioHostar series The Trial Season 2 opposite Kajol. The veteran actor had worked in over 350 films in his career and even worked as a lead actor in Gujarati films during the 1970s and 1980s.
Salman Khan's Tere Naam sequel in works?
Sajid Nadiadwala will reportedly plan to bring Salman Khan for the sequel to the fan-favourite 2003 release. A source informed Mid-Day that a fresh pairing might be cast, depending on whether Salman takes on the OG or a new avatar. "Once the legal and financial packaging is done, they’ll lock in Salman and only then announce a director. A tentative script is being worked upon," the source added.
