'How Dumb Can One Be?' Woman Slams Men Entering Women's Coach In Delhi Metro; Viral Video Sparks Debate

The first coach of the Delhi Metro is always reserved for women—a rule that, if broken, can result in a challan (fine). There have often been cases where men enter the women’s coach and create a ruckus, sometimes even by mistake. Highlighting this issue, a woman’s video has gone viral in which she calls out men who frequently enter the women’s coach in the Delhi Metro without bothering to move back to the general coach, with some even saying that they “don’t fear getting a challan.” The video has sparked debate and divided opinions online.The video has been reshared across multiple platforms and was originally posted on Instagram by a user identified as Ananya Yadav. in Delhi, she says, “This is for all the men out there, kyunki mujhe lagta hai kee kaan band karke chalte hai delhi ke mard. Metro train ki direction mein, metro ki disha mein pehla dibba mahilaon ke liye reserved hai, iska matlab yeh hai ki the first coach is reserved for ladies only. Aap ladies nahi hai, aap first coach mein mat chadiye.'' (“This is for all the men out there, because I feel like the men of Delhi walk around with their ears closed. In the direction of the metro train, the first coach is reserved for women, which means the first coach is for ladies only. If you are not a woman, don’t enter the first coach.”)She adds, ''Aur agar aap chad chuke hain galti se, toh please second coach mein chale jaiye. How dumb can a person be jisko abhi tak yeh nahi yaad hua ki pehla dibba sirf mahilaon ke liye hai. Tum bahar bhi unko uncomfortable feel karao aur metro ki safe space mein bhi uncomfortable kar do.” (“And if you’ve entered by mistake, please move to the second coach. She further emphasises, “Basic cheez hai, aur jo aurtein apne mard leke aa jaati hai women’s coach mein aur kehti hai ‘aree kya hua ek hi toh station hai’—bhai, ek-do station ki baat nahi hai. Yeh rule hai ki men nahi aa sakte women’s coach mein. Aur aaj maine ek aadmi ko bola ki ‘sir, aapka challan bhi kat jayega’ toh wo kehta ki ‘arre koi baat nahi, katwa lenge challan.’ Abe bhai, Mard!” (“It’s a basic rule, and those women who bring their men into the women’s coach and say, ‘Oh, what’s the big deal, it’s just one station’—bro, it’s not just one or two stations. The rule is that men cannot enter the women’s coach.
